The Thomas Day Caughman Memorial Scholarship was set up by the Lexington Ducks Unlimited Committee Members to honor Thomas for making the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. Thomas, the son of Hamp Jr. and Jane Day Caughman, was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying all aspects of the outdoors especially duck hunting, with his family and friends. He was a graduate of Lexington High School and attended Midlands Technical College. The scholarship is funded through the sale of cups and auctions of other special items donated specifically for this cause. This scholarship provides a Lexington County resident with up to four years of support towards their education.
The first Thomas Caughman Memorial
Scholarship was awarded to Matthew "Matt" Steven Motes. Matt is a
graduate of Lexington High School Class of 2005, and is attending
Clemson University majoring in mechanical engineering. He is an
avid outdoorsman, much like Thomas. |
